The movie is at its best when jealousy is welling up in Frank, and Lola is feeling a combination of shame and resentment at the notion that she's responsible for his anger. Lola has a plot, but it isn't a movie about plot, it's about how the poor live, and watching the movie becomes like a vigil - or like observing someone slowly whither. I'm having a difficult time organizing my thoughts on this wonderful movie, so I'll break them down into chunks: • Lola abounds with melodramatic coincidence and. From here, Lola and her best friend (co-writer Zoe Lister-Jones) shuffle through a greatest-hits list of heartbreak (we get it: sad girls inhale ice cream). Starring: Bill Pullman, Debra Winger, Greta Gerwig and others. Michael Shannon and Imogen Poots are terrific in a canny little neo-noir legend. Carmen & Lola is a love story, a beautiful, wonderful love story, with fantastic performances from first-time actors. The movie leaves the mechanics of the crime (or hacking? or haunting?) to the imagination. She's Lola, the Cam girl who has special nicknames for each of her most loyal fans.
